Trident Technical College is a public, two-year institution with campuses in North Charleston, Moncks Corner, downtown Charleston, Summerville, Hollywood, St. George and Mt. Pleasant. Between all of its campuses, the school has an enrollment of more than 19,000 full- and part-time students. The college offers degree and certificate programs in aeronautical studies, allied health, business technology, community and family studies, culinary arts, film and visual arts, humanities and social sciences, industrial technology, legal studies, nursing and science and mathematics. The college offers a number of courses online. Apprenticeships, internships and paid cooperative work placements are also featured in many programs. Miller-Motte Technical College is a private, for-profit technical training school with locations in North and South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and Virginia. The school opened its Charleston branch campus in December 2000. The college offers associate degrees in criminal justice, international trade, medical assisting, health information technology, massage therapy, paralegal studies, phlebotomy and surgical technology. Certificates in medical billing, medical office administration and cosmetology-related fields are also granted. The school has accreditation through the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools and participates in federal financial aid programs. Its North Charleston branch is approximately 14 miles from downtown Charleston (around 19 minutes by automobile). The school offers baccalaureate degrees in network security, business administration and electronics engineering. Associate degree and certificate programs in electronics engineering and network security are also available as well as in practical nursing, medical assisting and medical office administration. Most programs include hands-on training either through internships or laboratory experiences on campus. Online courses are available. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools has accredited the school.
