Construction Inspection Schools

Construction inspectors examine various construction projects ranging from residential homes to commercial and industrial buildings. They give the final approval on whether or not a construction site has followed the necessary building codes or not. A certificate in construction inspection is usually required to be considered for employment in this field. Some schools offer these certificate programs as stand-alone programs, while others offer them as add-on certificates within various degree programs.
  1. San Diego State University

    • San Diego State University offers a professional certificate in construction inspection through its College of Extended Studies. The program is primarily designed for those in the construction field who are already familiar with the construction process and much of the terminology in the field. Students in the program learn both the process of construction inspection along with the knowledge of the various construction codes. The school offers seven different courses in the construction inspection field: wood-frame inspection, concrete inspection, pre-stressed concrete, masonry, plan reading, structural steel and electrical inspection. Students must complete four of these courses to receive the certificate.
