Alliance, Ohio Colleges

Alliance, Ohio is located just east of Canton, Ohio, on State Route 62, in the northeastern part of the state. Alliance, a metropolitan area with a population that totaled just over 22,500 in 2009, is home to a variety of colleges and universities and is close to others in nearby Canton.

    • Mount Union College is a liberal arts college. As of 2010, Mount Union College offered 48 majors and 52 minors in its undergraduate programs. Students can choose from business management, early childhood education, history, sociology, psychology, middle school teaching and many other programs. On-campus housing is available. Students can participate in more than 80 campus organizations, 20 intercollegiate athletic teams and a host of special events throughout the school year.

    Raphaels School of Beauty Culture, Inc.

    • Raphaels School of Beauty Culture is for those seeking careers in cosmetology, manicuring, skin care, massage therapy and/or salon management. Certificates as well as degrees are offered for these specialties. This is a small school that prides itself on its class sizes, job placement services and flexible schedules. They are accredited by the NACCAS, the National Accrediting Commission for Cosmetology Arts & Sciences and have several campuses throughout Ohio, with one in Alliance.

    Kent State University Stark Campus

    • Kent State University Stark Campus is a branch campus of the large and well-known Kent State University. The main campus is located in Kent, Ohio, while this branch is in Canton, Ohio, a short distance from Alliance. As of 2010, the branch campus offered three associate degrees, 15 bachelor's degrees, and two master degrees. They also offer all the core courses needed to complete any of the undergraduate programs available through the main campus. There is no on-site student housing.

    Aultman College of Nursing and Health Sciences

    • Aultman College of Nursing and Health Sciences, in nearby Canton, Ohio, is affiliated with Aultman Hospital, also of Canton. The college offers programs in both nursing and radiology. Nursing students can earn a two-year Associate of Science in Nursing degree (ASN). Students in the radiology program can earn an Associate of Science in Radiography degree (ASR). Aultman College does not have on-site student housing. However, student housing is provided at Walsh University, an eight-mile commute from the college in North Canton.

    • Malone University, also in Canton, Ohio, is a Christian liberal arts university affiliated with the Evangelical Friends Church. Their mission is to "provide students with an education based on biblical faith in order to develop men and women in intellectual maturity, wisdom, and Christian faith who are committed to serving the church, community, and world." They offer a variety of degree programs in the schools of arts and sciences, business, and education, as well as nursery and theology. On-campus housing is available.
