Horry-Georgetown Technical College is a public, two-year institution with three branches in southeastern South Carolina, including its Grand Strand Campus in Myrtle Beach. Approximately 1,300 students attend classes at the branch each year. Students can pursue a number of technical career programs at the campus, such as digital arts technology, horticulture, massage therapy, skin care, phlebotomy, criminal justice and paralegal studies. Students can also complete general education courses in preparation for transferring to a four-year college or university. A restaurant is located on campus for students. The Strand College of Hair Design is Myrtle Beach-based technical school that specializes in cosmetology training. The college has accreditation through the National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts Sciences and the approval of the state of South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulations, allowing graduates to qualify for state licensing exams in cosmetology. Among the programs offered at the school are a 1,500-hour cosmetology course of study, a 300-hour manicuring and nail technology program and a 450-hour skin care program. The cosmetology program includes lessons in hair-cutting, coloring and styling and also incorporates the curriculum of both the nail and skin care courses of study. The college operates an on-site salon and skin care clinic, where students gain hands-on training. Eligible students can receive federal grants and loans, veterans' benefits and vocational rehabilitation financial aid.

The South Carolina Massage & Esthetics Institute is a private institution with campuses located throughout South Carolina, including its Myrtle Beach branch. The college offers a 600-hour massage therapy training program, which qualify students for licensure in the field and provides them with the opportunity to work with real patients in the school's on-site clinic. Also offered is a 450-hour course in skin care or esthetics, which incorporates lessons in performing facials, hair removal and make-up application. Both programs are approved by the state of South Carolina. The college does not participate in government loan and grant programs, but students can obtain private loans to help cover the cost of tuition. Job placement assistance is available.
