Located in Nashville, Belmont University is a Christian-oriented academic community of some 5,400 students hailing from every U.S. state as well as 25 foreign countries. The university has 75 undergraduate programs, 20 master's degree programs, and three Ph.D. programs. According to the university's website, U.S. News & World Report has ranked Belmont as one of the top two "Schools to Watch" in the United States.

Founded in 1842, Cumberland University is located some 30 miles east of Nashville in the community of Lebanon, Tennessee. As of 2009, the student enrollment stood at over 1,300. The university offers 30 undergraduate degree programs. Graduates of Cumberland include Cordell Hull, former Secretary of State and Nobel Laureate, as well as 80 U.S. congressmen, two Supreme Court justices, and three U.S. ambassadors.

Located in Jackson, Tennessee, Jackson State Community College draws its students from the surrounding 14-county area. The college is a two-year school designed to provide students with the academic foundation needed to enable them to successfully transfer to four-year baccalaureate institutions. The college also maintains satellite campuses in Humboldt, Savannah, and Lexington, Tennessee.

Founded in 1936, Memphis College of Art is located on a campus in the 342-acre Overton Park area of the city. The college boasts that it is small by design. MCA is one of only four accredited art colleges in the South, and the only one that offers graduate degree programs. The college has also received accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Art and Design.
