One-year pre-nursing courses prepare students to enter a bachelor's of science nursing program. The B.S. degree is available in three forms: traditional three-year program, an accelerated B.S. program for students who already hold a bachelor's degree and a program for registered nurses that can be completed while working full time.
A master's of science degree can be undertaken either full or part time, and VCU also offers a post-master's certificate and a PhD program.
Students at VCU often qualify for financial assistance. The college disburses more than $270 million in student aid each year, in the form of grants, loans and scholarships. There is also an on-campus employment program that allows students to earn money while gaining experience of working in the field of medicine.
Competition for places on all VCU nursing courses is very fierce, so you need to have excellent references and good grades in math and science.
