Insert the last name or names of the author or authors and the date of the online publication when citing a document from a website in the text of the paper. There are two options for doing this. You can write, for example: Smith and Jones (2007) state the sky is blue. The other option is to cite after the statement like this: The sky is blue (Smith and Jones, 2007).
Write the entire website address in parentheses if you are citing the website and not a particular document with known authors. For example: The sky is blue (http://www.websitename.com).
Record your references in a "References" page at the end of the paper as well. For a document online with an author the format is: Last Name, First Name Initial. (Year, Month). Document Title. Publication Title and volume if available, page number. Retrieved Month, Day, Year from the World Wide Web: http://www.websitename.com. If the author name or original posting date is not available then omit that information.
Cite email communications within the text in this format: The sky is blue (A. Smith, personal communication, Month, Day, Year). You do not have to cite email communications in the References page.
