Missouri Public Colleges

Missouri has several four-year public colleges that maintain an outstanding reputation for excellence in education. The colleges offer a range of diverse academic programs serving undergraduates and graduates from around the country and the world.
  1. University of Missouri

    • The University of Missouri, or "Mizzou," is a public university located in Columbia. It sits on a 1,372-acre campus and had an enrollment of over 30,000 students in 2010. It is classified as a public research university, with a student-to-faculty ratio of 22 to one. It is a member of the Association of American Universities and is fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The university offers medicine, veterinary medicine and law degrees and is nationally recognized for programs in journalism, family and community resolution and campus writing.

    Truman State University

    • Truman State University is a public university located in Kirksville. Truman is a 140-acre campus with an enrollment of about 5,600 undergraduate, 250 graduate and 240 international students in 2010. The student-to-faculty ratio at Truman is 16 to one. The school offers internship programs to students in marketing, public relations and more. Truman is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The university offers programs in arts and letters, business, health sciences, science and mathematics and social and cultural studies.

    Missouri State University

    • Missouri State University's main campus is located in Springfield. The enrollment in 2010 was 23,092 undergraduates and graduates with over 1,500 international students. The student-to-faculty ratio is about 19 to one and the average grade point average for incoming freshmen is 3.60. The university is fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The university offers majors in arts and letters, business administration, education, health and human services, humanities and public affairs and natural and applied sciences.

    Missouri University of Science and Technology

    • The Missouri University of Science and Technology is located in Rolla. The university offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Enrollment in 2010 exceeded 7,000 students including 1,160 freshmen, 351 transfer students and 416 graduate students. The student-to-faculty ratio is about 16 to one with a class size of about 27 students. The university is fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Undergraduate majors include engineering, pre-professional advising, sciences and computing, business and social sciences and arts and humanities.
