With locations throughout the country, including Tucson and Phoenix, The Art Institutes (AI) offers a multitude of degree options, including associate's and bachelor's. For those interested in film and photography, there are programs in digital filmmaking and video production as well as audio production, digital photography and web design and interactive media. For those with an eye on graphic design, there are courses geared toward interior design, advertising, visual and game production/game design and media arts and animation. AI offers programs in the culinary arts, including culinary management and baking and pastry arts. Many courses are also scheduled in evenings and on weekends.
Collins College has locations in both Tempe and Phoenix. Degrees offered are in Film, Audio, Video and Visual FX, Technology and Digital Media and Visual Arts and Design. The school has existed since the early 1980s, when it was founded as Al Collins Graphic Design School. Course loads emphasize both associate's and bachelor's degrees.
The University of Advancing Technology, located in Tempe, takes a digital approach to education. There are programs in Internet and software writing as well as graphic design, game art and animation/programming, advanced computer science, artificial life programming, network security and many others. Degrees offered include bachelor of arts, bachelor of science and master of science. There is a variety of night classes also available.
Scottsdale Artists' School focuses on the traditional arts, and as of 2011 does not offer any computer-based classes. There is a broad specialty in classes focused on drawing, charcoals, ceramics, sculpture, photography, paintings using pastels, oil paints, acrylics and many more. The instructors are specialized in their respective fields, and tuition costs cover necessary supplies.
