The Corporate Training/Lifelong Learning program at St. Petersburg College is geared toward adult students who are interested in attaining specialized education not leading to a degree. There are many courses offered in each of these areas --- business solutions, certificates and licensed professions, cultures and languages, professional development, lifelong learning and technology.
Some of the areas that St. Petersburg College offers certificates in are: architecture and construction, arts, A/V technology and communication, business management and administrative, health science, information technology and upper division certificates.
The degree programs offered by St. Petersburg College include A.A., A.S., B.A., B.S. and B.A.S. degrees. The school also has a University Partnership Center where a student can take classes at St. Petersburg College campuses and earn a master's degree or a doctorate from a participating university.
An educational summer camp called College for Kids is available at St. Petersburg College. It has flexible sign-up (anywhere from one week to eight weeks), and it is affordable and is taught by certified teachers.
The GED program at PTEC is free of charge. To take the GED program the student first takes the TABE test so that the school can assess the student's needs. Counselors will tailor a course of study for the student based upon the TABE test scores. Once the student has reached the needed level of proficiency in each subject, he can take the GED test at the school. GED courses are available at the PTEC campus or online.
Some of the courses offered at the PTEC St. Petersburg campus are air conditioning, refrigeration and heating technology, architectural drafting, automotive collision repair and refinishing, commercial photography technology, dental assisting, early childhood education, medical assisting, medical record transcribing and television production. The PTEC Clearwater campus is located in a convenient location for St. Petersburg residents. Some of its courses are accounting operations, administrative assistant, applied welding technologies, automotive service technology and cabinetmaking.
PTEC offers financial aid through Pell Grant, veteran's benefits, Youth Connect program, and various scholarships. Federal student loans are not available. The average course length at PTEC is 18 months, although some programs are as short as 12 weeks or as long as two years.
