Listing of Community Colleges in Georgia

According to state census data published in 2009, some 2 million Georgia residents are college-aged. To accommodate all of these potential students, the University System of Georgia boasts some 43 different postsecondary institutions, eight of which are community colleges. A community college is a public institution that offers two-year programs.
  1. Atlanta Metropolitan College

    • Atlanta Metropolitan College is located in Atlanta, the capital city of Georgia. The school is home to some 2,200 students. Atlanta Metropolitan offers Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees, as well as certificates in applied sciences such as accounting and business management. The school also offers certificate programs in criminal justice and automated office management.

    Bainbridge College

    • Bainbridge College is a non-residential college located in the city of Bainbridge. The school offers technical programs, transfer degrees, and continuing education courses. The student body is comprised of approximately 3,000 students. Bainbridge offers 18 Associate of Arts degrees, 11 Associate of Applied Science degrees, one Associate of Science degree in nursing, 14 career certificates,and 31 specialized certificates.

    Darton College

    • Darton College is located in the city of Albany. It is home to some 5,000 students. Its degrees and certificates include 23 two-year career-oriented degree programs, 56 transfer degrees, and 37 programs resulting in certificates. Darton also offers 16 online degrees programs.

    East Georgia College

    • East Georgia College is located in Swainsboro. The school has a student body of roughly 2,700 students. It offers 24 two-year associate degrees geared primarily toward students looking to transfer into a university program upon the completion of their degree at East Georgia College.

    Georgia Highlands College

    • Georgia Highlands College is located in the city of Rome, Georgia. Founded in 1970, the school is home to 4,500 academic and 5,000 continuing education students. The school offers 48 different career and transfer programs, all of which lead to two-year associate degrees.

    Georgia Perimeter College

    • Georgia Perimeter College can be found in the city of Decatur. It is the third largest postsecondary institution in the state of Georgia, with a student body in excess of 25,000 students. Georgia Perimeter College offers some 27 associate degrees, in additional to four technical and career degrees, all through its six campuses in the metro Atlanta area.

    South Georgia College

    • South Georgia College can be found in the city of Douglas. South Georgia College is a two-year residential school with a student body of 1,800 students. The school offers 23 different associate degrees in fields like business, nursing and information systems.

    Waycross College

    • Waycross College is in the city of Waycross. It is a non-residential college attended by just under 1,000 students. Waycross offers associate degrees in 30 different programs, with majors as diverse as psychology, history, business, teacher education and criminology.
