Stillman College in Tuscaloosa is a liberal arts college that offers bachelor's degrees in the sciences and arts. The school's enrollment is 915 students. The liberal arts college is affiliated with the United Methodist Church. The mission statement of the school focuses on encouraging an educational atmosphere that is centered around Judeo-Christian values. Some of the school's majors are biochemistry, physical education, aerospace studies, optometry, ministry, marine science and English. The school's ideology is centered around a concept known as the "Huntingdon Plan," which includes laptop computers for all students, standardized tuition costs and extensive liberal arts courses.
Spring Hill College is in Mobile, on Alabama's Gulf Coast. Approximately 1,800 students are enrolled. This private, coeducational Catholic college is one of the oldest Jesuit institutions in the nation; it was founded in 1830 by Michael Portier, Mobile's first Catholic bishop. Some of the majors that are available are theology and philosophy, communication arts, economics and finance, engineering, journalism, sociology and Hispanic studies. Both undergraduate and master's programs are available.
