Colleges in Snohomish County, Washington

Snohomish County, named after an Indian tribe, is on Puget Sound north of Seattle. Snohomish is home to beaches, farmlands, forests and mountains. A variety of employers call Snohomish County home, including state, local and federal government, with aerospace manufacturer Boeing being the largest. Over 30 percent of the residents are college graduates and alumni of one of the colleges in the area, according to the county's official website.
  1. Edmonds and Everett Community Colleges

    • Edmonds Community College was founded in 1967 and is located about 20 miles north of Seattle in Lynnwood, Washington. Edmonds is focused on serving a diverse community to develop higher quality opportunities for learning. About 12,000 students are enrolled per quarter, pursuing one of a number of certificates and associate degrees offered in the arts, sciences, business and technology. Edmonds' alumni include engineers, attorneys, musicians and business owners.

      Everett Community College was founded in 1941. The main campus in located in north Everett, with seven additional centers located throughout the county. The college focuses on providing a wide variety of education options at affordable cost. Over 20,000 students attend the college each year. Associate degrees in the arts and sciences are awarded, along with more than 30 certificates in technical and career fields. Alumni of Everett include many of the local business, government, civic and social leaders, says the college. Eighty percent of students are Snohomish County residents.

    Columbia College - Marysville/Everett

    • The Marysville/Everett campus of Columbia College was opened in 1995. Columbia, a private college, is focused on providing higher education to military personnel and working adults. Over 25,000 students attend Columbia nationwide. Columbia offers degree programs using a variety of schedules, including eight-week courses that meet twice a week. Saturday, evening and online classes are available. Students have the flexibility to start and stop their education to take care of work or family responsibilities. Approximately 35,000 Columbia alumni are scattered around the country and the world.

    Trinity Lutheran College

    • Trinity Lutheran College was founded in 1944. A private institution, Trinity is focused on developing Christian leaders through higher Bible-based education. A variety of academic programs are offered to students leading to certificates and degrees in a number of fields including Biblical studies, psychology, music and worship. Approximately 4,000 of Trinity alumni are spiritual leaders in their communities.

    Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

    • Embry-Riddle School of Aviation was founded in 1926, about two decades after the first flight of the Wright brothers. The Everett campus is one of over 150 teaching centers making up Embry-Riddle University worldwide. Embry-Riddle's mission, the university says, is to teach students the science, practice, and business of the world of aviation and aerospace. Online and on-site classes are available to the over 26,000 students who are enrolled in undergraduate and graduate degree programs annually. Alumni include over 25,000 military personnel, says the university.
