Two North Carolina community colleges offer associate degrees in forestry. Wayne Community College in Goldsboro, North Carolina, offers an associate degree in forestry management technology, while Haywood Community College in Clyde, North Carolina, offers both an associate degree and a certificate program. Both community colleges boast a combined on-campus/online education option.
High Point University in High Point, North Carolina, cooperates with Duke University to offer a bachelor degree in forestry. This program is a new academic concentration, but is complemented by the association with Duke University. High Point University concentrates on what it calls "experiential learning," and offers an intensive "Maymester" program to help students complete hours in a short amount of time.
North Carolina State University is located in Raleigh, North Carolina. NCSU offers a bachelor's degree in forest management, featuring an entire College of Natural Resources. NCSU's program in forest management is offered on-campus with a unique nine-hour summer camp program to give students hands-on experience in forest health and expansion.
After achieving a bachelor of arts degree, students can earn a Master of Forestry degree from the Nicholas School of Environment at Duke University. The program focuses on sustainable forest management, with application studies available given the proximity of Duke Forest. In addition to a master's program, Duke offers a Ph.D. program for students seeking a terminal-level degree.
