Northwestern Ohio Colleges

Since the first settlers arrived, Ohio has had a rich history in education. The first universities opened shortly after statehood in 1803. In the 1960s, Gov. James Rhodes promised to locate a college within 30 miles of every Ohio boy and girl. That has led to a vast network of public and private universities, community colleges and branch campuses. Northwest Ohio is no different, from the public universities in Bowling Green and Toledo to the private colleges in Hancock County.
