The Russell County Career & Technology Center is located in the heart of Russell County, in Lebanon, Virginia. The school offers many courses in trade vocational areas for kids in K-12 grades. Studies include vocational areas such as auto mechanics, building maintenance, cosmetology, masonry, welding and culinary arts. The school has joined with Southwest Virginia Community College to provide dual enrollment courses in the areas of building trades, criminal justice, masonry and welding.

King College is a vocational school located in Bristol, Tennessee, the twin city of Bristol, Virginia. It offers vocational studies in the arts & sciences, business & economics, education and nursing. Admissions requirements include a minimum of a 2.6 grade point average on a 4.0 scale, an ACT score of 19 or an SAT score of 890. High school students are required to have completed four units of English, two units of algebra (I and II), one unit of geometry, two units of a foreign language, two units of history and social sciences, one unit of natural sciences and four other academic electives.

Southwest Virginia Community College is located near Lebanon in Cedar Bluff, Virginia. The school provides non-conventional, short-term study programs for adults who are retraining or considering new careers. Vocational programs include carpentry, entrepreneurship in building trades, commercial driver training, law enforcement and masonry. Southwest Virginia Community College offers associated arts and science degrees, associate of applied science degrees, diplomas and certificates. To be accepted, students must have graduated from high school and provide official transcripts from all high schools and colleges attended, as well as a complete application for admissions. There is no application fee.

The Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center (SVHEC), located in Abingdon, Virginia, is a partnership of ten colleges and universities that provides undergraduate and graduate degree programs and professional development courses for adult students. Degree programs include nursing, occupational and technical studies, engineering technology and nursing.
