Brown Mackie Schools

Dating to the late 1800s, the Brown Mackie College system educates students in the areas of business, early childhood education, general studies, health care and wellness, legal studies, nursing, technology and veterinary studies. While the college originated in Kansas, other locations have opened up across the country. As of 2011, there were 20 Brown Mackie College locations in 13 states.

    • Brown Mackie College Boise offers areas of study in business, health care and wellness, legal studies, technology and veterinary studies. The school offers diploma, associate's degree and bachelor's degree programs. Tutoring and career services are available to help students with their writing, interview skills and job placement. A new program is being offered to train students as dental assistants.

    Brown Mackie College Salina

    • Brown Mackie College Salina in Kansas offers certificate, diploma and associate's degree programs in business, general studies, health care and wellness, legal studies, nursing, technology and veterinary studies. Students who have difficulty maintaining a heavy course load can enroll in the one-course-a-month program. Since 1990, the college has operated an athletic department and offers basketball, baseball and softball.

    Brown Mackie College Akron

    • Brown Mackie College Akron offers academic programs in a variety of subject areas, including business, early childhood education, health care and wellness, legal studies, nursing, technology and veterinary studies. Programs are available at the diploma and associate's degree levels. Not available at every Brown Mackie school, the Associate's in Applied Science in Early Education degree program teaches students about the development of children from birth to age eight.

    Brown Mackie College Birmingham

    • Students enrolled at Brown Mackie College Birmingham have educational opportunities in business, legal studies and technology. Technology-based programs include information technology, graphic design, biomedical equipment technology, and architectural design and drafting technology. In addition to diploma and associate's degree programs, two bachelor's degree programs are available in business administration and legal studies. Students learn through coursework and hands-on training in laboratories. Internship or work study programs may also be available with area businesses.
