The Health & Technical Schools in Arizona

According to an October 2010 report by St. Luke's Health Initiatives, a public-health foundation based in Phoenix, Arizona, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 provided funding to increase the number of health-care workers by at least 10 percent by the year 2020. Arizona education institutions, including community colleges, technical schools and private education institutions provide education and training to those that want rewarding career in health care.
  1. Arizona College of Allied Health

    • The Arizona College of Allied Health in Glendale has provided health-related education services in Arizona for more than 10 years. The college provides associate degrees and certification programs in eight career areas, including dental assisting, medical assisting and massage therapy. The college is accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools.

    Arizona School of Health Sciences

    • The Arizona School of Health Sciences offers doctoral programs in audiology and physical therapy, and master's degree programs in athletic training, occupational therapy and physician assisting. The school accepts approximately 150 students annually with an average total enrollment of 400. The school also offers distance-learning programs in areas such as human movement and a doctorate of health science. Students with an existing baccalaureate degree can take advantage of these medical education programs. The school is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, with additional accreditations in specific programs.

    Maricopa Community Colleges

    • The Maricopa Community Colleges is a system of 10 community colleges located in and around Phoenix. Through the system of colleges, Maricopa offers access to approximately 1,000 occupational certificates and degrees, as well as more than 35 associate degree programs. Health-related programs include behavioral health, emergency medical technology and nursing. The Maricopa colleges have agreements with state universities to offer a transfer program to students wishing to pursue a baccalaureate degree.

    Eastern Arizona College

    • Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher has provided higher education services for more than 100 years. The college provides an array of degree and certificate programs, including certificates in cosmetology and an associate of science in automotive technology. The college also offers five bachelor's-degree programs as well as graduate programs and advanced education certifications in nine additional areas. Eastern Arizona has student enrollment of more than 6.000 and more than 80 full-time faculty. The college is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association.
