How to Cite Presentation Slides in APA Format

The Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, or APA, provides systematic methods to document information cited from other sources. APA provides formats for citing magazines, books, websites, articles, interviews and PowerPoint slides. The general format for a paper written in APA format includes a title page, abstract, text, references and appendices.

Instructions

    • 1

Document the information cited from another source by giving credit to the source within the paper. Cite the author of the source, the year it was published and the page number, if applicable. For example, "The discovery of the theories of genetics was by Gregor Mandel (Jeffrey, 2001, pg 15)."

    • 2

Write the sources cited in the APA format for the bibliography that does not have a date. This is indicated by "n.d." Follow this with the author's last name and first initial, and indicate that there is no date. Place the title in italics, and note that the data comes from; in this case, it's "[Presentation slides]." State the source, listing the URL, if available. For example, "Jeffrey, K. (n.d.) Sons of the genetic study. [Presentation slides]. Retrieved from http:/[email protected]."

For in-text citation, provide the author and year of publication in parenthesis. For example, "(Jeffrey, n.d.)."

Write the sources cited in the APA format for the bibliography that has a publication date. Write the author's last name and first initial, followed by the date of publication in parenthesis. Follow this with the title and "[Presentation slides]." State where you retrieved the data, along with the URL, if available. For example, "Jeffrey, K. (2001, November) Sons of the genetic study. [Presentation slides]. Retrieved from http:/[email protected]."

For in-text sources, indicate the author and year of publication in parenthesis. For example, "(Jeffrey, 2010)."
