How to Make the Dean's List for Southern Connecticut

Southern Connecticut State University students all have the ability to work their way onto the dean's list. The dean's list is a list of students with outstanding academic achievement for any given semester. Every college at the university, such as the college of business and the college of education to name a few, has a dean. Each semester the dean chooses from all of the undergraduate students those that best represent academic achievement. Unfortunately, not all students make it onto the dean's list; only a select few.

Instructions

    • 1

Get good grades. The most important aspect of the dean's list is academic achievement. Any student wishing to make it onto the dean's list must maintain a grade point average of at least 3.0. The higher your GPA the better your chances of making it onto the dean's list as only the top 10 percent of students make it onto the list. This means that even if you have a 3.0 you are not guaranteed to be in the top 10 percent of your class.

    • 2

Take at least 15 credit hours of classes if you are a freshman or a sophomore student at Southern Connecticut. Students that take fewer credit hours -- most classes are worth three credit hours each -- are not considered eligible for the dean's list.

Take at least 14 credit hours of classes if you are a junior or a senior at Southern Connecticut.
