Address letter. At top of letter, write your name, address, phone number and email address. Write directly to dean by stating "Dear Dean" followed by his name.
Introduce yourself. In first paragraph, introduce who you are by stating some brief facts. Include dates you previously attended the college and state purpose of letter. Inform the dean that you wish to be readmitted to college and would kindly appreciate him considering this option.
Describe what happened. Explain to dean reason you left school. If you transferred to a different school, explain reason for move and reason you wish to return. If you were kicked out, describe details of incident focusing on what you are willing to do if he readmits you. If you dropped out, explain it was a poor choice and tell details of your new goals and plans to succeed this time. Include any life changes that took place during time you were gone from the college that will help increase your credibility. Limit this explanation to between two and five paragraphs.
Ask clearly for what you want. Be clear and succinct in asking for permission to come back to college. Include any additional factors that might positively affect his decision in matter. Offer one or two last minute reasons why this would be a good decision.
Close letter. Thank dean for considering this option and tell him that you look forward to hearing from him and include your phone number again. End letter by writing "Sincerely" followed by your name.
