Top A+ Program Colleges in Missouri

The A+ Program is available to Missouri high school students that attend a designated A+ school. The program offers 2 years of college tuition at any community college in the state, as long as students meet certain eligibility requirements while in high school (GPA, attendance and tutoring, among other things) and in college (students must be enrolled continually in their chosen schools). There are many different community colleges for A+ students to choose from, each with many different strengths.     • Missouri State University-West Plains is a branch campus of Missouri State University (located in Springfield, Missouri), the second largest university in the state. Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) offers associate's degrees in numerous disciplines, including general education, as well as four-year degrees in a few select programs, including business, elementary education and nursing. This community college is experiencing tremendous growth and is quickly becoming an integral part of the town of West Plains; the town provides a great deal of support for the college, especially for its sports teams, the Grizzlies.

    State Fair Community College

    • State Fair Community College is located in Sedalia, Missouri. Sedalia is a beautiful town rich in history, and it is home to the third largest fairground in the United States, which is where the Missouri State Fair is held each year; hence, State Fair Community College. The college's offerings are mostly limited to associate's degrees; however, the range of disciplines in which degrees are offered is broad. State Fair also offers a limited number of bachelor's degrees in areas including accounting and criminal justice. These bachelor's programs are offered in a partnership with Central Methodist University.

    St. Louis Community College

    • St. Louis Community College operates four separate campuses across the St. Louis area. St. Louis Community College (SLCC) prides itself on its tremendous committee to diversity; it has a large Diversity Committee of 25 members whose responsibility is to ensure that SLCC maintains an atmosphere of inclusion for everyone, regardless of differences in race, gender, age, lifestyle, disability and class. Although the college offers no bachelor's degrees, the list of disciplines for associate's degrees is extremely long; almost any student would be able to find a program that fits his interest at St. Louis Community College.

    Metropolitan Community College

    • Metropolitan Community College serves the Kansas City area and consists of five campuses. Campuses of Metropolitan Community College (MCC) have received several important accolades. In 2001, MCC-Longview became the first community college to be selected as a College of the Year by The Princeton Review. Also, in 1996 the MCC-Penn Valley men's basketball team won the championship in the NCAA Men's Division II, in addition to finishing as the runner-up in 1996 and 2002. The college is focused on providing both career training as well as preparing its students to move on to a four-year college. Like St. Louis Community College, MCC offers associate's degrees in a large variety of disciplines.
