List of Knights of Columbus Scholarships

The Knights of Columbus formed in March 1882 as a program to benefit its members and their families. The Catholic organization provides support, relief and assistance to its members and to people in need worldwide. One of the benefits of being a member of the Knights of Columbus is that you and your family are eligible to receive scholarships toward collegiate education. In the 2008-2009 academic year alone, the Knights of Columbus scholarship programs provided more than $1.5 million to 687 students.
  1. Fourth Degree Pro Deo and Pro Patria Scholarships

    • The largest scholarship program that the Knights of Columbus offer is the Fourth Degree Pro Deo and Pro Patria Scholarship. This program awards 62 American students with scholarship funds. Twelve of these 62 scholarships are reserved for students entering the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., while the other 50 scholarships are available to students entering other Catholic colleges or universities in the United States.

To be eligible to receive a scholarship, applicants must be entering their freshman year in an undergraduate program at an American Catholic college or university. The student must be working toward a bachelor's degree. Applicants must also be members in good standing with the Knights of Columbus or the Columbian Squires, or be the son or daughter of a member in good standing or a deceased member of the order.

Each scholarship is worth $1,500. Selection criteria focus on academic merit, and funding can continue for each of the four years of undergraduate study, so long as the student maintains proper academic performance.
