The American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors (ASCLD) provides scholarship funding in the amount of $1000 to eligible applicants pursing a degree in forensic chemistry. Applicants should be junior or senior undergraduates or graduate students in forensics-related fields, and current employees of forensics laboratories are not eligible to apply. Award decisions consider overall academic performance, academic performance in forensic science, recommendation and personal statement of interest in a forensics career. The application deadline is in April of each year, with transcripts and recommendation letters due in May.

The Association of Firearm and Tool Mark Examiners (AFTE) provides one $1000 scholarship annually for a student in the junior or senior year of an undergraduate program or in a graduate program with an intention of pursing a career in forensic science. Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA or higher, complete the AFTE Scholarship Application Form, write a personal statement, and submit three recommendation letters and a transcript. Applications are available online and the deadline for submitting applications is April 1st of each year.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) offers scholarship funding for students pursing higher education degrees in science, mathematics and technology related fields that are related to the DHS mission. DHS grants are available for undergraduate and graduate study, and are meant to address high priority needs such as chemical threats and explosives detection. The application deadline is in January and decisions are made by March of each year.

Many individual institutions and departments provide their own funding for forensic chemistry students as well. MidAmerica Nazarene University in Kansas offers three scholarships designated specifically for forensic chemistry students, while Same Houston University in Texas has eight endowed scholarship and grants to provide financial aid to forensic chemistry majors in good standing. Western Illinois University is just one more higher education institution that offers its own departmental grants for forensic chemistry students, with nine grants total for chemistry students at various program levels.
