Tourism Cares and the American Society of Travel Agents together offer several scholarships for graduating seniors who plan to pursue degrees in travel and tourism in California. The ASTA Northern California Chapter Richard Epping Undergraduate Scholarship is awarded annually in the amount of $2,000. The NTA California Undergraduate Scholarship is awarded each year in the amount of $1,750. Students must be graduating high school seniors, and must be enrolled for the fall semester in order to be eligible. The annual deadline for application is April 15. The Northern California Attractions Association provides money to California travel and tourism management students through the Keith R. Kittle Memorial Travel & Tourism Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded annually in the amount of $1,000. In order to be eligible, a student must be enrolled in a two- or four-year travel and tourism or hospitality management program, and must be a resident of northern California. Applicants must also submit an essay explaining their reason for pursuing a career in travel and tourism. The annual deadline for application is June 12. The California Hotel & Lodging Association Educational Fund provides financial assistance to California travel and tourism students who express a desire to pursue a career in lodging management through a number of annual scholarships. The CH&LA General Scholarship is awarded in amounts ranging from $500 to $1,500. The Kevin Johnson Memorial Scholarship is awarded to high school students graduating with hospitality and lodging programs. All students must be residents of California to be eligible, and must attend an interview either in person or by phone. The annual deadline for application is May 31.
