Black Women Attorneys

• The Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys Foundation (GABWA) offers grant funding to qualified black female applicants through a number of community based programs. These grants provide funding to children of incarcerated black females, the Sister to Sister program, which provides constructive programs for at risk young black females and individual grants to black female college students. Grants range in amounts, but as of September, 2010, were awarded in amounts up to $300,000 and issued on a case-by-case basis. Interested applicants must apply directly through the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys Foundation to see if they qualify.

Black Women Enterprises

• Black Women Enterprises is an organization that advocates funding for the advance of businesses owned by black women. Black Women Enterprises provides grant funding to black women to help them offset the costs of starting or expanding an already existing business. Black Women Enterprises also advocates on the part of black females in business to promote fair lending policies and encourage minority owned businesses. In addition, the organization works with many other organizations to provide referrals for additional grants and low interest loans. All grant awards vary in amount and are granted on a case-by-case basis. Interested applicants may apply directly through Black Women Enterprises to see if they qualify.

HUD Grant Funds

• The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is a federally funded organization that provides housing grants to qualifying low-income, minority, disabled or elderly applicants. These grants help offset the costs of rent. Grant programs are also available for help with down payments used towards the purchase of a home or for home repairs and approved modifications. In addition to direct grants, HUD provides grants to organizations that work to prevent discriminatory lending or housing practices based on race or sex. Interested applicants must apply directly through their local HUD office to see if they qualify for aid.
