The WIRE, or Women Involved in Rural Electrification, offers a grant each year to a woman who has been part of an electric cooperative but has not yet obtained her bachelor's degree. To qualify, you must have graduated from high school at least 10 years prior, show financial need, have gained acceptance into a South Carolina university, and be a cooperative member. This is a one-time $2,500 award that must be used for the year in which it is given. The deadline for this scholarship is each June.

This grant is available to women across the country, including South Carolina. To be eligible you must be an American citizen, be at least 40 years old, prove financial need, and be enrolled in a technical program or a recognized accredited school at the time of or within six months of receiving the award. The deadline is April of each year and award letters are mailed out by late June. Depending on the applicant, scholarships range from $500 to $5,000.

Interested women must fill out an application online and submit with $5 processing fee via Paypal.
