Determine the testing location where you took your GED. Contact the specific location where you took your test. You can use your local Yellow Pages, or online sites like Google to conduct searches for the testing site. If you took your GED test while in the job corps, military or a correctional facility, then you will have to go through the American Council on Education to request a copy of your GED. The American Council on Education requires a $14 fee for a GED transcript, as of early 2010.
Make copies of two forms of identification to give the testing location. Having two forms of ID to submit with your request for a duplicate GED will ensure the testing center is sending the GED to you and no one else. A driver's license, passport or state-issued identification will suffice.
Contact the testing location and make a request for your duplicate GED. The location may require you to fax them a form before processing your request or they may require you to make the request by mail. It may take a week or two before your GED is mailed to you.
