In order to take the GED in Utah, you must be at least 18 years old. Additionally, you must be a resident of the state and must have withdrawn from a regular high school no less than six months before the exam date. High school graduates are not eligible to take the GED in Utah.
The test is broken down into five different subject sections: language arts, writing and reading with a 45-minute essay question; mathematics parts one and two; science; and social studies. The test is scored on a range of 200 to 800 for each subject section with the minimum passing score for each set at 410. The minimum cumulative passing score for the GED is 2050. If you do not pass the exam, you may retake all or part of the test until you achieve a passing score.
You may register for the GED at any of Utah's testing centers. The exam carries an application fee of $55, which you must pay when applying for an exam date. You must present proof of residency (such as a utility bill), Social Security number and valid identification (driver's license, for example) along with the application fee to verify your identity and residency within Utah.
