An individual must be 18 years of age or older to take the exam, although exceptions can be made for individuals who are 17 if they are not in high school and can receive a waiver from the superintendent of the school district in which they live. Individuals must present identification before taking the exam in the form of a driver's license, passport, or other photo ID valid in Tennessee.
To pass the GED exam, the student must have an average of 450 on the total test, which has a maximum standard score of 2,250. In addition, no section can be lower than 410 to get a passing grade for the GED in Tennessee.
If an individual does not pass the GED they may take the exam 30 days later, for a maximum of three times during a year in Tennessee.
Once the GED exam has been passed, a diploma is issued. If you need a duplicate, you must contact the testing center where you took the exam initially in the state of Tennessee.
