According to the Arkansas Department of Career Education, the Arkansas GET testing program serves Arkansas citizens who are 16 years of age or older.
The Arkansas GED testing program serves citizens of Arkansas who are not enrolled in or graduated from high school.
Prior to taking the GED tests in Arkansas, citizens must pass the official GED practice test through an approved Adult Education Center or GED Testing Center.
Although many GED examinees do not need formal instruction to prepare for the tests, libraries, computer software stores and bookstores offer study material. Additionally, many Arkansas adult education programs provide instruction through sponsorship by local school districts, community organizations and colleges.
Each GED test is scored on a scale ranging from 200 to 800 and in Arkansas a candidate must earn an average score of at least 450 across the five tests, with no individual test score below 410. According to the Arkansas Department of Career Education, these requirements "ensure that GED candidates are able to read, compute, interpret information, and express themselves in writing at the same level as the top 60 percent of graduating high school seniors."
