To take the GED test in Kansas you must be a resident of Kansas. To be classed as a resident you must hold a valid Kansas driver's license or Kansas identification card. Any candidate over the age of 18 can test, but special conditions apply to anyone between the ages of 16 and 17 years old. To be eligible you may not be enrolled in an accredited high school, nor can you have already graduated from an accredited high school.
You can register for the GED test in Kansas by contacting one of the GED centers listed on the Kansas Board of Regents website. Before taking the GED test you must provide photo ID which includes your name, address, date of birth and signature. Identification which is listed as acceptable on the Kansas Board of Regents website includes Kansas driver's license, photo ID cards issued by Kansas Division of Motor Vehicles, passport, Military ID, other forms of national or foreign government ID. You also need to provide your social security number and testing fee. Once you have completed the registration process you will receive a letter providing you with the time, location and date of your test. You will also receive an information sheet with general guidelines and procedures.
You are required to fill in several forms prior to taking your test. These include a verification of eligibility form, the Kansas GED test registration form, the GED demographics form and the code of conduct statement.
For candidates to successfully complete the Kansas GED test they need to receive a minimum score of at least 420 on each of the test sections and an average score of 450 on all tests.
You may not retake the GED unless an employer, university or college requires you to have a higher score than your current test result.
