Requirements for a High Honors Score on the GED

The GED, or General Education Development, is a standardized test designed to act as the equivalent of a high school diploma. The test is administered nationally and covers Language Arts (reading and writing), Science, Social Studies, and Math.
  1. Test Score Requirements

    • To earn a GED certificate, you must get a total score of at least 2,250 points. You must score no lower than 410 out of a possible 800 on any of the subject sections.

    Honors Requirements

    • You must get a score of 2,750-2,990 to get an Honors score on your test. This is a mark of achievement.

    High Honors Requirements

    • You must get a score of 3,000 or greater to get a High Honors score. This is the best mark of achievement you can get.

    Getting your GED scores

    • Usually your test proctor will make clear how to get your test scores while giving information about the test. However, scores should be available two to three weeks after the test. If you're unsure how to access your scores, contact your Assessment Center (the place you took the test) or go to the American Council on Education's website.
