How to Convert 1994 GED Test Score to Current

In 1994, the GED featured a five section test. For a passing scores, users needed a minimum of 400 on each test and a 460 average between all the tests. As of January 2011, the current test uses the same scoring system but requires a minimum score of 410 and a minimum average score of 450. You can use your individual scores to determine your average score or use your GED score to find your approximate GPA.

Instructions

    • 1

Write down each section's score. If each score is higher than 400, you passed the test.

    • 2

Add all five scores together and divide by 5. If the average is higher than 450, you passed the test.

    • 3

If your score is between 401 and 500, your GPA would be 2.0 to 2.9. If your score was between 501 and 600, your GPA would be 3.0 to 3.4. If your score is between 601 and 700, your GPA would be 3.5 to 3.7. If your average score is higher than 701, your GPA would be between 3.8 and 4.0.
