Spanish is becoming a universal language. It's spoken within many populations, including the United States. Teaching children to speak Spanish can be done by using one of numerous language instruction methods. Global Child is a privately owned language learning program that has been teaching children to speak French, Chinese and Spanish since 1992. The program operates by visiting participating Massachusetts public and private schools and providing 50- to 60-minute lessons before or after school. The Spanish teaching curriculum incorporates lessons in Spanish cultures and focuses on learning through a combination of games, singing, skits, snacks and movement. Tuition includes one class per week throughout the school year; a Global Child language learning booklet; audio CD; and weekly lesson handouts.
