Spanish Schools for Children in Georgia

Parents seek bilingual education schools because their children are not native English speakers or they want their children to have a multiple language immersion education. Many private language schools accept either type of student assuming they host the language you're looking for. With the population of Hispanic Americans rising, Spanish has become popular in Georgia language schools.
  1. Atlanta International School

    • The renowned Atlanta International School, located in the Buckhead neighborhood, has been immersing students in a bilingual education since 1985. The school offers an intensive English and Spanish education from kindergarten through 12th grade, culminating in the International Baccalaureate for three grade levels (primary, middle and upper school). The school caters to native Spanish and native English speakers while preparing students for college and a global cultural experience.

    Unidos Dual Language Charter School

    • Part of the Clayton County School District in Jonesboro, Unidos Dual Language Charter School was created to administer education to the growing number of Spanish speakers in the area. The school specializes in non-native English speakers, teaching language skills in English and Spanish while promoting tolerance and respect for different cultures. Students who are dominant in both languages are grouped together for instruction.

    World Language Academy

    • The World Language Academy at Chestnut Mountain is located in Flowery Branch. The school was opened in 2008 and houses a dual-immersion Spanish/English school and a world language program. One of the few public charter language schools in the state, enrollment is open to Hall County residents only. The language immersion begins with a pre-kindergarten program that is one of the few of its kind in the country.

    Private Tutoring

    • Despite the fact that Georgia (like the rest of the country) has seen an increase in Spanish speakers over the past years, bilingual education opportunities within the state are limited. Another option for Hispanic families is to hire a private tutor. The Wyzant company is a nationwide corporation that prides itself on placing individual tutors with students. The company typically has bilingual tutors available in Georgia.
