The Shenandoah Boys Ranch (missions.templebaptistchurch.com) is a ministry of the Shenandoah Baptist Church. It is located in Calhoun, Tennessee, approximately three hours southeast of Nashville. The ranch is able to take on 25 young men per school year. The goal of the Shenandoah Boys Ranch is to give young men another chance to get caught up academically as well as "get their lives back on right path with God." The school was founded in 1975 by Steve and Ruth Grubbs, and holds classes year-round.
The Baylor School (baylorschool.org) is located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It was founded in 1983 by a group of Chattanooga businessmen. This former military school became co-ed in 1985. The school accepts students in grades six through 12. The average class size for all grades is fewer than 15 per class. Students with learning disabilities are able to receive additional help three or four times per week. The outdoor program, known as "Walkabout," is especially helpful to students with learning disabilities as it offers more hands-on learning experiences.
