The Montgomery County public school system in Rockville, Maryland has multiple elementary schools with Spanish immersion programs. These schools include Burnt Mills, Rock Creek Forest and Rolling Terrace. There are limited spaces at these schools for kindergarten and first grade. If the number of admission requests pass the limit, a lottery will be held to determine admission. Higher grade level students are admitted based on available space and language proficiency.
Bethesda International School is a Saturday Spanish immersion school that serves students in grades pre-K through 12. It operates September through June on Saturday mornings from 9:00 until 12:30. Students are taught by native speakers in the subjects of reading, music, writing and theater arts. As of the 2011 school year, the tuition was $1,300, with three payment options available.
Language Fundamentals serves the Washington D.C., Virginia and Maryland areas. It was founded in 2006 by Marian Zapata, a native Spanish speaker from Granada. Language Fundamentals offers summer camps and Mommy and Me classes, as well as before and after school programs for schools and day cares. The hour-long classes are taught with a variety of methods so that children of all learning styles can learn quickly. The classes incorporate music, visual aids and games into their lessons for a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
The Children's Center For Language And Culture, or ChiCeLaCu, is located in Vienna, Virginia. The school serves the Washington D.C., Northern Virginia and Bethesda/Rockville/Annapolis areas. ChiCeLaCu offers Saturday and Sunday classes, after school and preschool programs and summer camps. The school limits its class sizes to 12 children for individualized instruction. Areas of enrichment, such as art, music, physical education and library, are all included in the center's curriculum.
