Kumon is an afterschool enrichment program that accepts children of all abilities in grades preschool through 12th grade. The program focuses on math and reading subjects, and children learn at their own pace. Advanced students looking to be challenged, as well as those who need assistance with daily studies, are welcome at Kumon because programs are individually designed. Each assignment is more difficult than the previous one, and perfect scores are required on worksheets to ensure a child fully grasps the concept before moving forward. Centers are located throughout the United States and Canada.
Huntington Learning Center helps students between the ages of 5 and 17 in a variety of school subjects. Tutoring is available, for example, in writing, math and phonics. Students can also acquire help in test preparation as well as high school and college entrance exams. One of the goals of Huntington is to help students improve their grades and self-confidence. To do this, Huntington uses a six-step process that begins with a student's academic evaluation, includes one-on-one attention and ends with frequent updates for parents. Centers are located throughout the United States.
The Tutoring Center assists students in kindergarten through 12th grade with reading, writing and math. Before enrolling in a program, The Tutoring Center provides a complimentary assessment of a child's strengths and weaknesses. That assessment then produces a report to identify the child's needs. Once a child is enrolled in the appropriate program(s), he or she gets assigned to two or three 60-minute sessions per week. The number of sessions required depend upon a child's grades, as The Tutoring Center ensures children earn As and Bs on all assignments. Centers are located in 18 different states, including California, Texas and New Jersey.
Lindamood-Bell Learning Centers provide one-on-one instruction to people of all ages, from children to adults, in five different subject areas. These subject-related programs work independently of each other and focus on the following: symbol imagery, speech, reading comprehension, math and reading and spelling. To maintain quality tutoring standards, Lindamood-Bell does not franchise or license other operators. Instead, centers are completely owned by the company's original founders, and locations can be found throughout the United States as well as in England and Australia.
KnowledgePoints Learning Centers work with students from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade who lag behind peers, struggle with studies or need additional challenge. Individual tutoring programs are available in reading, writing, math and study skills. Students can also enroll in programs for homework support or ACT/SAT test preparation. All tutoring programs consist of the initial skills assessment, personal instruction and a motivational system. The last component is intended to build students' confidence in learning and life. Centers are independently operated by state-certified teachers who are also certified by KnowledgePoints. That certification follows a 12-week training program at one of the KnowledgePoints centers
