The Sylvan Learning Center has developed the Sylvan Skills Assessment test to pinpoint a student's strengths and weaknesses. This test helps the center to devise a plan that targets the student's particular needs. Therefore, parents will not waste time and money on tutoring services their child does not need.
The Sylvan Learning Center offers tutoring and supplemental instruction to students as early as pre-kindergarten and as late as 12th grade. Parents can enroll more than one child at the Sylvan Learning Center, and students can continue to work with tutors whom they have learned to trust as they advance in grade levels.
The center offers tutoring and instruction in a variety of subject areas, including math, reading, writing, study skills, statewide exams and SAT/ACT preparation. The center also offers after-school homework help programs and academic camps. These programs are designed to be didactic, reinforcing subject material while also engaging students in fun learning activities and teaching them that education need not be boring.
Many of The Sylvan Learning Centers are in shopping plazas and central community areas so parents can run errands or grocery shop while their child is at tutoring. The center operates five days of week after school, during the evenings and sometimes on weekends to meet the scheduling needs of busy families. In addition to on-site instruction, the center offers online instruction and private at-home tutoring, giving parents options for their child's specific learning needs.
