Instructions

    • 1

Cut the board to your desired size. The size is chosen by preference and with consideration of what flannel board characters and props you will be using on the board.

    • 2

Lay flannel or felt over the cut board and make sure that it measures slightly larger than the board; a couple of inches extra is sufficient. This will ensure that you can fold the flannel or felt over the edges of the board and secure it properly.

    • 3

Spray or coat board with adhesive and place flannel or felt onto the board. Press the material into the board firmly, making sure that the fabric is smooth and without wrinkles.

    • 4

Fold extra material around the edges of board, and firmly secure them on the back of the board with strong packing tape. This will ensure that the material doesn’t come undone while using the flannel board.

    • 5

Draw or copy your flannel board characters and props. Cut the images out when you are finished decorating them in whatever fashion you choose.

    • 6

Cover images with clear adhesive laminating paper. This will protect the images from moisture and tears.

    • 7

Cut 1-inch squares of the adhesive Velcro and place one on each of your laminated images. This will hold them in place while you are telling me a story, yet are easily moved to different locations during story time.
