How to Make Ice Skates for Preschoolers

Ice skating is a favorite winter activity that most children try for the first time as preschoolers. While it may be difficult at first, most children get the hang of this difficult athletic activity relatively quickly and enjoy it immensely. Take advantage of their newfound interest in ice skating by planning a craft that they can execute on their own based on their new winter pastime. You only need a few craft items to get started and children will enjoy creating this project on their own.

Instructions

    • 1

Trace or draw a simple ice skate boot shape onto a piece of felt. You will need at least two for each child creating the craft.

    • 2

Have children cut out the ice skate shape using scissors. Be sure each child has two ice skates.

    • 3

Decorate the ice skate boots with markers. Children can draw or color the boots however they like. Be sure that they draw the laces on the boot.

    • 4

Attach two short pieces of yarn to the top of each ice skate boot. These pieces of yarn will look like laces. Tie the laces of one boot to the laces of the other boot with a bow.

    • 5

Use craft glue to attach a small paper clip to the bottom of each skate boot to resemble the skate blade. Hang the craft on your Christmas tree using the tied laces of yarn.
