June Bulletin Board Ideas for Preschoolers

Welcoming the beginning of summer, June presents preschool teachers with an array ideas from which they can create bulletin boards in their classroom. Boards themed for the month can feature the importance of families and Father's Day, as well as remind the children of ways to stay safe while playing outdoors.
  1. Family Flowers

    • Decorate your bulletin board with a flower scene that focuses on families. As the teacher, you create the backdrop with green bulletin board paper and large objects such as a sun or tree and place words about families around the board, such as "caring," "father" and "love." Then you can fill the board with flowers that the preschool children have created, using construction paper and glue with a picture of their family drawn in the center. To go along with the family flowers bulletin board, help the children construct a coupon flower to give to their father (or other family member) for Father's Day that promises a certain task, such as setting the table or a big hug.

    Summer Picnic

    • Set the scene on your bulletin board for a summer picnic with green paper to serve as a grassy backdrop, a picture of a picnic basket, some cute ants as a border and a big smiling sun. The preschoolers then get to contribute to the board with slices of watermelon that they make using either craft supplies such as paper plates and dried black watermelon seeds or a previously made template. You can even tie in a lesson on letters or numbers to this bulletin board display by instructing the students to create a specific letter, using the seeds on their watermelon, or a number and then place that number of seeds on their slice.

Fun and Safety in the Sun

    • Create a beach scene on your bulletin board when you divide it in half and label one side to represent items that keep the students safe in the sun and the other for objects that they have fun with in the sun. The board is decorated with printouts related to summer fun and safety such as sand buckets, beach balls, umbrellas and life vest. Students place them on the proper side of the board after coloring them as a reminder of how they can stay safe while playing outdoors in the summer.
