Preschool Bulletin Board Ideas for November

Fall and the Thanksgiving holiday typically come to mind at the mention of November. These signature elements of November work well as the basis for preschool bulletin board displays. The bulletin boards help the kids learn more about the season while adding a decorative element to the classroom. Get the kids involved in making the November bulletin board images for a customized look.
  1. Giving Thanks

    • The preschoolers play a key role in developing this November bulletin board which calls on the Thanksgiving theme. Each child draws a picture of something she is thankful for. Examples include family, friends, a warm home and food on the table. The children can draw one or several items on the picture. Write a caption on the picture based on what the child dictates to you. Add a heading on the display that says "We're thankful for..." or "Giving thanks for..." Display all of the pictures under the heading.

    Turkeys

    • Turkeys are a staple in the month of November. Each child decorates his own turkey to display on the bulletin board. A hand-print turkey is a simple option. There are different ways to make the hand-print turkey. The first method involves painting the child's hand and pressing it onto a piece of paper. The fingers create the feathers, the palm is the body and the thumb is the neck and head of the turkey. Another option is to have the children trace their hands three or four times onto colorful paper. The hands are cut out and glued to the back of a turkey body shape. Either method allows the child's hand print to be captured in the keepsake craft. At the end of November, send home the turkeys for the families to keep.

    Cornucopia

    • A cornucopia is another symbol of the month of November. Cut out a large cornucopia shape from brown paper and attach it to the bulletin board. Cut out different food shapes such as fruits, vegetables and bread to display spilling out of the cornucopia. Write each child's name on a piece of food to incorporate them into the bulletin board design. For a more custom approach, have the children paint their pieces of food before writing their names on them.

    November Symbols

    • This bulletin board idea incorporates many different elements of November. Cut out large letters to spell the word "November" in the middle of the bulletin board. Surround the word with images of things that are associated with the month. Ideas for the images include pumpkins, gourds, fall leaves, turkeys, cornucopias and footballs. Ask the preschoolers to contribute their favorite things about November to add to the display.
