Jungle Bulletin Board Ideas for Preschool Teachers

A colorful bulletin board can catch the eye of anyone who enters your classroom, particularly your students. These displays can be used to give children an introduction to a new topic or interest them in a new lesson. Whether you're devoting a day, a week or a month to studying jungles, a jungle-themed bulletin board can make preschoolers excited to learn more about this mysterious environment.
  1. Jungle High-and-Seek

    • With the colorful array of trees, plants and flowers found in the jungle, covering your bulletin board with pictures of them brings a burst of color into your classroom. A plant board can also turn into a game of hide-and-seek. Hide small pictures of camouflaged insects and lizards throughout the scene and challenge the children to find them all. This will help illustrate how creatures adapt in order to survive life in the jungle.

    Animals

    • Although preschoolers may be used to dogs and cats, they have likely never encountered an orangutan before. An animal-themed bulletin board teaches children about all the varied creatures that live in jungles. Cut animal pictures out of magazines or find them online, being sure to choose a variety of jungle creatures. Hang each animal on the board along with pictures showing its preferred foods.

    Monkey Faces

    • No preschooler can resist seeing her own face smiling back from a bulletin board. Using children's photos is a good way to decorate a board welcoming them to the beginning of the school year. Cut out paper monkeys and attach one face to each monkey and add the child's name. Hang the monkeys on the board under a heading of "Wild About Learning!" or "It's a Jungle in Here!"

    Jungle Words

    • Since preschoolers are working on learning letters, bulletin boards are a useful way of exposing children to new words. When you're studying jungles, create bulletin boards with words pertaining to jungles. Place a picture illustrating the word next to each one. Fill the board with words and pictures or add a new word and picture to the board each day. Use words such as "jungle," "monkey," "lion" and "hot." Point out each word one at a time and explain its meaning. You may also ask children to name the letters in the word or copy them down for writing practice.
