Find family images on your computer that you would like to use on your flash cards, creating cards like D for Daddy and S for sister. Take pictures of images of food items your child enjoys, or toys that he plays with: O for orange and C for car. Use websites that use free stock photos for additional images. Go through each website and allow your child to have fun by picking the photo she would like to use.
Use the "insert table" selection of your word processing program to create four equal-sized cells. Highlight the cells and click on the borders option. Choose the 6-point width option to create a thick border around the cells.
Type and center one bold, 125-point-sized letter of the alphabet at the bottom of each cell. Use a larger font if desired. Leave room at the top of the cell to insert the image. Make the letter in each block a different primary color by highlighting the letter and selecting the text color from the color palette.
Insert, size and center your personalized image in each block to correspond to the letter. For instance, use your dog's picture to center inside the "D" block. Do this for each letter. Go through your chosen stock images and add the images to the corresponding letters. Be sure to save your work.
Print each piece of card stock printing paper with the four letters representing four flash cards. You should have six pieces of paper with four letters and one sheet of paper with the two remaining letters for a total of 26 letters and images. Use one of the remaining cells on the last sheet to make a personalized cover for your cards, such as "Kerri's Colorful Alphabet."
Cut along the thick border lines that you created in step two to evenly separate each letter, using scissors or a paper cutter. Continuously save any changes you make throughout the process. Arrange the letters in alphabetical order and you're ready to have some alphabet fun.
