Instead of making flash cards with index cards and a pen, consider using a free, online flash card website to tailor flash cards to your study needs. The Flash Card Exchange is an online warehouse for more than 25 million flash cards on a wide variety of specific topics. You have to create an account on the website, which requires you give the site your email address and a password, but signing up is free.

      Click the link "New Flashcards" on the top of the screen, after you have signed up. You will be referred to a new screen with form fields to fill out for your flash cards. Fill out the title of your flash card set, the description of the flash card set and a few keywords to categorize the set. You also can indicate whether you would like to make your set private or public. Public flash cards are available to other Exchange users. Once your are done, click "Save."

      Type information into the blank flash card form fields on the next screen. There will be a column of cards for "Questions" and a column of cards for "Answers." Think of questions that you have had a difficult time answering in class, or form questions out of topics that have been hard to understand. Type those questions in the fields. Do not forget to hit "Save Flashcards" on the bottom of the screen.

      Click the "Print" button from the row of buttons on the top of the screen to print your flash card set. Another option is to click the "Study" button on the row of buttons. The "Study" button takes you to a screen where your flash cards are appear. You can click through them by clicking the "Continue" button at the bottom of the screen. Each time you click the "Continue" button, you will get the answer to your question.
