Obtain a salmon coloring page and instruct the students to color it in their favorite colors. Draw the outline of a salmon fish with a black marker and make enough copies of it for each child.
Cut enough extra small, small, medium and large paper hearts so that each child has 1 extra small heart, 2 small hearts, 1 medium heart and 1 large heart. Instruct them to connect the medium and large heart end to end at the bottom points with glue. When students lay them sideways on a flat surface, the top of the medium heart should be facing left as a head and the top of the large heart should be facing right as a tail. Have students add the extra small heart at the point where the arches connect on the front of the medium heart to form a mouth. Instruct them to glue the two small hearts on opposite sides of the medium heart as fins. Tell them to draw an eye toward the front and top of the medium heart.
You can cut a triangular shape from a paper plate or have the students do it themselves. The open space left from the triangular cut becomes the mouth of the fish. Have students glue the cut triangle to the back of the fish with the pointed end connected to the plate to form a tail. Instruct them to color it their favorite color.
Print out small black outlines of salmon fish. If you can't find a salmon outline, the outline of any fish will do. Instruct students to cut along the outline of the fish and provide assistance if needed. Have them lightly color it and write their names on it with a black or dark-colored marker.
