God Knows Me Preschool Crafts

Bible passages such as Psalm 139 and Matthew 10:29-30 explain how God knows and cares for his children. However, many preschool children have difficulty understanding this concept simply by reading these passages. Variations on the phrase "God knows me" and personalized crafts help children understand this concept and provide them with a daily reminder of how well God knows them.
  1. God Knows Me Inside and Out Crafts

    • Around Halloween, many stores sell skeleton items. Purchase some items to use for "God Knows Me Inside and Out" crafts. For example, glue skeleton candy pieces onto a piece of card stock and have children glue on the words "God knows me inside and out" around the bones. Purchase a skeleton outfit and take a picture of your child wearing the outfit. Fold a piece of construction paper in half to make a card. Glue a copy of the picture of the child in the skeleton costume to the front of the card. Add the words "God knows me inside." Add a regular picture of the child to the inside of the card and write the words "and out."

    Psalm 139 Crafts

    • In Psalm 139, David outlines different ways Gods knows him. Create a small book for children by writing each way God knows someone on a separate page. For example, include a page that says "God knows me when I sit," a page that says "God knows me when I rise" and a page that says "God knows my thoughts." Staple the pages together to create a mini book and have children draw pictures to fit each item. For a personalized book, take a picture of your child sitting, standing, thinking and modeling the other ways God knows him, then glue the pictures to the appropriate pages.

    Picture Frame Crafts

    • To help children make a personal connection, purchase inexpensive wood picture frames. You can also make picture frames by cutting out a space for a picture in the middle of a foam sheet. Have your child decorate the frame and write or glue on the words "God Knows Me." Place a picture of your child in the frame and display it in your child's room as a daily reminder. As an alternative idea, decorate a small mirror purchased from the craft store with the same words.

    Self-Portrait Crafts

    • Many children enjoy drawing pictures of themselves and their family members. Using paint, crayons and construction paper, have children draw self-portraits. Make the pictures more fun for children by adding googly eyes or gluing on yarn and tissue paper for hair. Help children write the phrase "God knows me" or "God knows the hairs on my head" around the picture.
