Preschool Bell Crafts

Celebrate holidays such as Christmas and the Fourth of July with your preschoolers by crafting simple bells from basic craft supplies. These craft projects can also become educational activities as you incorporate lessons about the significance of the bells in relation to the holiday. Display the completed bells in the classroom by hanging them in a window, on a bulletin board, or from a classroom Christmas tree.
  1. Liberty Bells

    • Teach preschool children about the American history while crafting miniature "Liberty Bells" for them to take home. Give each child a paper cup and an empty toilet paper roll. Help children wrap the cup in tinfoil. Punch a hole in the center of the cup's bottom, and two holes in one side of the toilet paper roll. Thread a pipe cleaner through the cup's hole, through one hole in the toilet paper roll, and back through the other. Bring the pipe cleaner's end back through the hole in the cup and twist both ends together. Tie a small jingle bell on the end of the pipe cleaner and write the word "Liberty" across the toilet paper roll.

    Silver Bells

    • Make simple hanging silver bells from egg cartons with your preschoolers. Cut apart an egg carton to separate the individual egg cups. Let the children paint the cups with silver paint and cover with silver glitter. Punch a hole in the bottom of each cup and thread a piece of ribbon through the hole. Tie a jingle bell on the end of the ribbon in the cup. Fold the opposite end into a loop and tie a knot to secure it.

    Styrofoam Cup Bells

    • Create noise-making bells using simple craft supplies. Give each child a Styrofoam cup and instruct her to decorate the outside surfaces with crayons, markers, paint or glitter. String a few beads onto one end of a piece of yarn and tie the end in a knot. Punch a hole in the cup's bottom and thread the yarn's loose end through the cup. Tie a knot in the loose end of yarn near the top of the cup.

    Christmas Bell Ornaments

    • Craft personalized bell-shaped ornaments for the children to hang on their home Christmas trees. Cut two equally sized bell shapes from a piece of clear contact paper. Peel one shape from the sheet and let the preschooler sprinkle confetti, glitter and sequins over the sticky surface of the bell. Stick a small picture of the child in the center of the bell if desired. Remove the second bell shape from the sheet of contact paper. Place the second bell shape on top of the first so the sticky sides are together. Punch a hole in the top of the bell and thread a piece of ribbon or yarn through it. Tie the ends together to form a loop.
